WHY HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLES?

Rapid increase in the number of automobiles, against the advantages it provides has brought about many problems in Turkey as is the case in all over the world. The most important of them is the air pollution which is caused by the usage of fossil fuels in vehicles. This environmental problem has arisen to levels requiring urgent solution especially in big cities. To solve these problems, advanced countries are conducting important studies on automotive industry. Major of these studies are;

• Direct injection has developed as a new technic in internal combustion engine technologies that use gasoline or diesel as fuel. General tendency in engine developing is reducing emissions and decreasing fuel use. In this context, automobile manufacturers have projects aiming for manufacturing of automobiles consuming 3 lt of fuel for 100 km.
• Using low cost composite structures in order to decrease the body weight, by this way, decreasing the fuel usage and reducing CO2 emissions.
• Another area of study is usage of alternative fuels for vehicles. Generally gasoline, LPG, natural gas, hydrogen, etc. are used as direct or secondary fuel in internal combustion engines.
• The most important solution to the environmental pollution caused by the automobiles is the production of hybrid electric vehicles that cause neither exhaust emission nor noise. In many countries automobile factories and research institutes continue their research and development studies over hybride electric vehicles and governments are performing important incentive programs in order to generalize environment-friendly hybrid electric vehicles.
