What is GMO, how is it formed?

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) or Organisms with changed genetic structure -as commonly said in our country- are living organisms whose genetic code have been changed by gene technology. This process, is performed by adding the genome of the organism one piece of DNA or a synthetic combination containing several small DNA fragments. During application, desired gene is determined on a donor organism and its code is broken, it is purified by enzymes and copied for thousands times (cloning). Cloned DNA is given to the recipient cell. Transferred gene has taken from another organism so that a new property is transferred to the product.
