Objectives: School Seismology Project is an important step to increase the knowledge and awareness of young generations about earthquakes and their effects on the earth, particularly in our country facing the earthquake risk. This project is especially designed to grasp accurately the information obtained by scientific methods, to own it and to establish earthquake sciences within earth sciences under seismology, in order to transfer it well to future generations.

Scope:

Seismology science represents an effective communication tool providing training and education with experimental practices and training activities Students will be encouraged to explore the real world with the main concepts of mathematics and physics upon which seismology is based. A seismic station that will be operated in cooperation of researchers, teachers and students, will encourage young people to become involved in science and make a scientific career in that direction. In this way, one of the main tasks of TUBITAK, namely "Development, Establishment and Promotion of Science, Technology and Innovation Culture throughout the Society" will be accomplished.
