Objectives: To establish in our country an improvable 1 MV AMS National Laboratory where 14C based dating operations can be accomplished.

Scope: An AMS laboratory will be established devoted to date determination studies with ¹⁴ C ¹⁰Be, ²⁶Al, ⁴¹Ca isotopes in milligram order sample measurements including an accelerated mass spectrometer unit (AMS), a sample preparation unit and required hardware. A building will be constructed supporting the weight of the system satisfying the requirements of the AMS unit. Staff will be recruited and trained to be capable of operating and maintaining this infrastructure in Turkey. After the completion of this work, announcement of a national workshop will be made and this national facility will be made known nationwide.

Expected Results:By this project, an improvable national laboratory will be established in our country, where mainly (¹⁴ C ¹⁰Be, ²⁶Al, ⁴¹Ca) based dating operations can be accomplished devoted to understanding scientific processes in earth sciences, archaeology, biomedical and environment sciences and removing the foreign dependence in this area.

AMS laboratory and sample preparation laboratories including chemical processes laboratory and graphite preparation laboratory will both provide services to researchers in our country and respond to foreign requests carrying the scientific infrastructure of our country to international level.
