The kick-off meeting of the recent public project named "Development of water based environmentally friendly roadway markers and increasing the performance of the cold applied solvent based roadway markers" was held on 4th November 2010 with the attendance of General Directorate of Highways, TUBITAK MRC Chemistry Institute and BETEK Paint Inc.

"Synthesis and Production of Sodium Borohydride (SBH)" project was supported by BOREN (National Boron Institute) and the project was carried out by Chemistry Institute of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MRC). The project had been successfully fulfilled and, a pilot plant constructed in TÜBİTAK MRC campus.
Opening ceremony of the pilot plant was honoured by Energy and Natural Resources Minister Dr. M. Hilmi Güler, BOREN President Dr. Erk İnger, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Nüket Yetiş and TÜBİTAK MRC President Mehmet Önder Yetiş.
The project is important since it is a leading study for converting boron resources of Turkiye into a high-value added product. By means of the installed pilot plant, production process of Sodium Borohydride was optimized for the industrial integration.
Manufacturers, large number of investors, managers and entrepreneurs in private sector companies from the chemical sector were also informed about the opportunities, potential costs and market shares of Sodium Borohydride at the opening ceremony.
