ANIMAL BIOTECHNOLOGY STRATEGIC BUSINESS UNIT


Animal Biotechnology Strategic Business Unit carries studies on reproductive biotechnology (embryo production; IVF, In vitro fertilization; ICSI, Intracytoplasmic sperm injection; nuclear transfer) to control reproduction in animals, transgenic animal production to investigate molecular mechanisms of animal and human diseases or to develop therapeutic strategies and antibody production using hybridoma technology to detect disease-causing agents, food, feed, water and environment contaminants. Establishment of animal gene bank for animal improvement and characterization of gene functions by genomic/proteomic researches are the future working areas of the unit.

The Unit consists of  two laboratories;

  1. Animal Genetics and Reproduction Biology Laboratory
  2. Diagnostic Technologies Laboratory

  • Animal genomics and proteomics studies (gene bank and genome research)
  • Reproductive biotechnology (assisted fertilization techniques)
  • Mammalian cell technology (somatic cell and embryonic cell studies)
  • Hybridoma technology (production of monoclonal and polyclonal antibody)
  • Preparation of immunogenic materials (hapten conjugation)
  • Diagnostic technologies (ELISA, FIA, CELISA, Antigen and antibody based Strip tests, Immunobiosensors, Immunochromatographic tests)..
