The 4th International Congress on Food and Nutrition together with 3rd SAFE Consortium International Congress on Food Safety, 12-14 October 2011
The 4th International Congress on Food and Nutrition together with 3rd SAFE Consortium International Congress on Food Safety has been successfully completed. The joint congress was held in parallel with two FP7 events (Mycored and Safetechnopack). Over 547 individuals belonging to academia, industry, and governments from 41 countries participated. There were 28 sessions, including two key-note speakers and two plenary sessions that encompassed 145 oral and 266 poster presentations. The conference was very successful and surpassed all expectations. It was complemented with exhibitions from both local and international companies. Best poster awards were presented during the closing ceremony of the congress with the following ranking:
1st Place: Real-time monitoring of luciferase-tagged Cronobacter sakazakii infant milk formula by Claire Flaherty (Food for Health Ireland, University Cork College, Ireland).
2nd Place: Release properties of phenolic compounds from composite or blend zein film for bioactive packaging by İskender Arcan (Department of Food Engineering, İzmir Institute of Technology,Turkey).
3rd Place: Phenolic compounds of Fagopyri herba: extraction, optimisation and analysis by LC-ESI-MS/MS by Bojona Beljkaš (Institute for Food Technology, Serbia).
