Food Institute in Framework Programme 6

The European Union has the highest food standards in the world. Food safety is among the top priority policies of the European Commission. Consequently, the Commission has defined the "Food Quality and Safety" issue as a priority area in FP6. The Food Institute has been participating in various FP6 projects as a partner. The Institute has already gained a prestious status in European food research community through these partnerships and effective networking. Currently, its partnership is widely seeked by project groups that propose on Food Quality and Safety priority area.

The Institute has been involved in other European and bilateral international projects. You can find information on these project on the Institute's web site in english.
The Institute is preparing for the 7th Framework Programme. It has joined the Technology Platform "Food for Life" and started activities to form a national platform. In this respect, a conference was organized in Istanbul which was attended by Turkey's major food sector representatives.

In his visit to Turkey in September 2006, the EU Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik toured the Food Institute and two more TUBITAK Institutes at its Gebze campus. He became impressed by the infrastructure and the Institute's involvement in Framework programmes. For pictures from this visit, please click on:
